The 2022 Kia Telluride is leading the list of the best family SUVs, with a spacious interior, extensive warranty, handsome exterior, and wide range of features. On the other hand, the 2022 Honda Pilot is a crossover SUV with great use of interior space, a powerful powertrain, and decent features.

If what you’re looking for is premium practicability, the 2022 Honda Pilot is a great choice with its high towing capacity, driving ease, spacious and comfortable interior, and selection of good features. But, if luxury is your goal, then the 2022 Kia Telluride will make a better choice, offering a rich interior, handsome exterior, robust infotainment system, and even more with higher trim levels.

The two vehicles are directed towards very different target audiences, but they are commonly compared. Let’s take a closer look at the 2022 Kia Telluride and 2022 Honda Pilot.

Differences

Engine Power

Both the 2022 Kia Telluride and 2022 Honda Pilot are powered by a V-6 engine for strength on and off the road, with 262-pound feet of torque. As for the horsepower, while the former offers 291 hp, the latter is set at 280 hp.

The Telluride engine is combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission that feeds the all-wheel-drive through the car, and the ride is on the firm side. It offers precise steering and reliable brakes, with self-leveling rear air suspension available in the towing package.

As for the sporty Pilot, it has a seamless nine-speed automatic transmission, with impressive and smooth driving when it’s loaded with people and cargo. It also feels light when you steer it, making it easy for maneuvering.

Fuel Economy

The 2022 Kia Telluride and Honda Pilot don’t have wide differences in terms of their fuel economy ratings.

The Kia Telluride features ratings of 20 mpg and 26 mpg for the front-wheel drive, and 19 mpg and 24 mpg for the all-wheel-drive, for city and highway respectively.

As for the 2022 Pilot, the front-wheel-drive offers 20 mpg and 27 mpg, while the all-wheel drive is set at 19 mpg and 26 mpg, for the city and highway.

Infotainment and Technology

In terms of infotainment and technology, the 2022 Kia Telluride does way better than the Honda Pilot. The latter is meant to be a practical vehicle, which is probably the infotainment technology is one of its weak points. While the Pilot features an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, Android Auto, voice command, and other features. But navigation is not standard on all the trims.

On the other hand, the Telluride boasts of a full array of infotainment features, with a 10.3-inch touchscreen with a lot of popular content and power points. These include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. It also comes with Driver Talk on the higher trims, which allows the driver to communicate to those in the back two rows. Other tech features include wireless smartphone charging, 10-speaker Harman Kardon audio systems, and a 110-volt power inverter.

Warranty

While the Kia Telluride and Honda Pilot don’t offer complimentary scheduled maintenance upon purchase, the two vehicles have decent warranty coverages. The former offers much better warranty coverage than the latter.

The 2022 Honda Pilot offers limited warranty coverage of three years or 36,000 miles and a powertrain warranty of five years or 60,000 miles.

But, the 2022 Kia Telluride has a better basic and powertrain warranty coverage. While the former is for five years or 60,000 miles, the latter is ten years or 100,000 miles. Even with this, it offers some of the best coverage out of there.

Price

The surprising difference between the 2022 Honda Pilot and the 2022 Kia Telluride is that the former is more expensive even when the latter is built as a luxury vehicle. With the four trims in the Kia Telluride, the recommended pricing range is between $34,015 and $43,195 from LX to SX.

On the other hand, the 2022 Honda Pilot has five trim lines, costing between $40,285 and $51,845, from the EX-L to Black Edition.

If you want to save money on your purchase, you can go for the highest trim from the Kia Telluride and enjoy a wide range of infotainment features and luxury. But the Honda Pilot would give you practicality for your everyday driving.

Verdict

When comparing the 2022 Kia Telluride and 2022 Honda Pilot, your choice depends on the vehicle that meets your needs, from the engine power and fuel economy to infotainment and warranty. The two vehicles offer similar engine powers and fuel economy, so you would probably make your choice on whether you need luxury or practicality.
