The Subaru Outback is a unique SUV that has continued to see high demand levels and use. With the release of their 2023 model, we have decided to go through the changes that have been made in the wagon between models and let you know why you should buy an Outback. Just like any other brand, Subaru aims to improve its vehicles with each new model they release. This list will be going over why these changes have been made, what benefits the 2023 model has in store and why you should consider purchasing this vehicle.

Changes in the 2023 models

Before we go into the main reasons why you should purchase this car, we want to highlight some of the minor but meaningful changes that this model had. This is in terms of specifications, designs, and more.

The first and most obvious change is an aesthetic one to the front end of the SUV. All trims except the Subaru Wilderness got upgrades in their front view designs, giving them a more modern look.

Another notable change is the upgraded eyesight system. The Subaru 2023 models have a wider field of vision as well as a collision-avoidance system that allows the car to swerve automatically to avoid accidents. The blind-spot monitoring models are necessary to prevent the collision avoidance systems from causing further damage when trying to avoid accidents.

The Touring trim will also be getting a unique third sensor that helps the SUV detect pedestrians on the street and a camera system that can be used in place of a rear view mirror. The Onyx edition will no longer only offer the turbo engine but also the 2.5-liter engine. Finally, the 2023 models will now feature wireless apple and android car play, as well as adding USB A and C ports in both the front and rear.

With all that out of the way, here are 6 reasons to buy a Subaru Outback:

It is a unique SUV

The Outback series stand out among other SUV’s because of its unique set of features. On the market, its pros stand out, leaving very few direct competitors to the wagon. The closest competitor to the Outback would likely be the Mazda CX-50 but the Outback has the uniqueness among other small SUV’s by being more premium as well as having equal or even more space. The Outback is also unique due to its driving proportions which are more car-like and allow good ground clearance and visibility. As a small SUV, it is designed for outdoor driving and activities but isn’t too blatantly an outdoors vehicle. This gives the Outback a more versatile nature as it can be used for both outdoors and city driving.

The Wilderness trim is an excellent SUV

The next reason you should consider a Subaru Outback is specifically because of the Wilderness trim. It features a turbocharged engine which is standard to the trim but the 2023 model also has an ungraded final drive ratio. Another benefit the Wilderness provides is that it has increased ground clearance with a distance of 9 and a half inches instead of the previous 8.7. Its roof rails can support up to 700 pounds of weight with up to three people in the car and the roof rails also feature swing-out crossbars.

The driving standard

The new Outback models feature not just an all-wheel-drive standard system, but a full-time all-wheel-drive system. The models have equal-length dry shafts which are called symmetrical and provide a more balanced ride. The torque steer is significantly reduced which allows the wagon to send more than 50% of its power to the rear if needed. Most of the Outback models will also feature an X-mode where the brakes control the power flow from left to right.

The Outback’s are luxurious

Subaru Outback models offer a level of comfort and luxury that can’t be found even in some of the most popular SUV brands. The seat cushions are not heavily bolstered and have a firm grip and if you purchase the Limited or Touring trims, the seats come with extended thigh support that takes comfort to the next level, especially for taller people. The vehicles also feature knee paddings and elbow rests as well as a sound-insulating windshield and other forms of insulation that provide an altogether very quiet car, especially in comparison to other Subaru models.

The engine

The CVT of the turbocharged engines Subaru provides may seem like they hold the car back, but the 2.5 or 2.4-liter engine is guaranteed to still give you a thrill, especially when you are accelerating. The transmission of this engine can go from 0 to 60 in only 5.8 seconds. Both Base and Premium trims work with naturally aspirated engines and run well on regular fuel with good gas mileage. The 2.5-liter engine means that the Subaru Outback can be significantly cheaper than some other SUV’s for people who do not prioritize speed in their vehicles.

The running costs

The Outback line has had a decent track record in terms of problems with the engine, design, and other aspects. Some of these include excessive oil consumption issues and head gasket issues. Besides these, Outback’s have had reliable engines for years. Some other minor reports people have had about Outback’s have to do with the entertainment system or the cost of repairing windshields but, overall, the vehicle is very reliable. This means firstly, that the cost of owning and maintaining an Outback is relatively low and this also means that it has a high resale value as it will likely be in a usable state when it is time for resale.

Conclusion

In total, the Subaru Outback trims are very reliable, versatile, and comfortable. The only reason why these cars would not be ideal for someone looking for an SUV would be if they had more specific requirements such as more advanced technology. The Outback is an ideal car for comfort, convenience, and subtlety and is a great choice for SUV lovers everywhere.
