No interested truck buyer and truck critique can deny how powerful the engines or the Ford F–150 are. The F–150 is a full-size pickup truck with high towing and hauling capability, a wide selection of powerful engines, diesel engine options, and its beautiful rating of 8.7 out of 10.

The Ford F–150 has different engine options for all truck buyers in terms of horsepower & torque, fuel efficiency, towing capability (from hybrid version), and ample power, all depending on the customer’s choice to take home.

Another advantage of this pickup truck is its spacious seats, powertrains (which include V6 and V8), and a large 12-inch screen option. Each F-150 engine comes with a ten-speed automatic transmission.

Horsepower, Capability & Efficiency

Each engine varies in the power that it produces. These are the three essential features you can find in an F-150 engine. They all work together to provide a pickup truck that is up to the task.

As a pickup truck owner, you will need a truck that is up to the task of carrying your goods (either large or tiny) hence, the towing capability. Each engine has a different hauling capacity.

Every engine option has fuel efficiency that allows you to save both money and time at the gas station due to the new engineering solutions.

Different F150 Engines

  • 3.5L EcoBoost V6

With a horsepower of 400 HP, a torque of 500 lb-ft, a maximum towing capacity of 14,000 pounds, a maximum payload capacity of 3,250 pounds, a city MPG of 18, and a highway MPG of 24, the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 is the strongest engine out of all others.

It’s the best engine for towing and has a twin-turbo V6 engine. To activate its towing capacity, buyers can get the optional Max Trailer Tow Package on the F-150 platinum 4×2 model (SuperCrew 4×2 and SuperCab 8’Box 4×2 configurations).

It provides a PFDI system giving users the availability of two injectors per cylinder. Due to its features, this engine can take up the most difficult tasks.

  • 3.3L Ti-VCT V6

This engine has a horsepower of 290 HP, a torque of 265 lb-ft, a maximum towing capacity of 8,200 pounds, a maximum payload capacity of 1,985 pounds, a city MPG of 20, and a highway MPG of 24. It is the first engine out of all other engines.

Due to its horsepower of 290, it is not the strongest engine available therefore is perfect for pickup owners who do not need to carry much and whose needs are satisfied using a smaller power plant.

As stated earlier, this engine does not come with a ten-speed automatic transmission, but it comes with the Ford 6R80 6 speed automatic transmission. It also provides a PFDI system with two injectors per cylinder (one inside the cylinder and one in the air intake port).

  • 2.7L EcoBoost V6

It has a new lightweight cam and a solid dual chain cam drive system. The technology used in this engine (2.7 liter EcoBoost fuel efficiency) turns the engine off when the car is brought to a stop and turns it on the minute the car starts again. It delivers both performance and power.

This engine is awe-inspiring when it comes to fuel efficiency, amongst others. It offers up to 430 horsepower and a torque of 570 lb-ft. It has an EPA estimated range of 700 miles for one gas tank.
