The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser is out and what makes this vehicle special is not just its affordability but the fact that it mirrors the original. This vehicle features the First Edition, 1958 and Land Cruiser grades and the base price for the 1958 model is somewhere between the $50,000 range. The 2024 Land Cruiser is an excellent option for off-road enthusiasts as they can now take on tough trails in their new vehicle.

This, of course, makes the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser a major competitor of the 2024 Ford Bronco which is known for its sleek and rugged design alongside its off-road package and helpful drive modes. We do not expect to receive significant changes for the 2024 Ford Bronco apart from new paint jobs and models. The Bronco is already one of the best off-road SUVs out there and this makes up for that fact.

Can the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser stand up to the Bronco? It does come with fantastic features and a solid four-cylinder 2.4-liter hybrid powertrain engine which produces up to 326 horsepower and about 465 lb-ft of torque. It also comes with 33-inch tires and a four-wheel drive with rear differentials and a locking centre. Let us dive into the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser and see all that this new vehicle has to offer.
Overview
For Toyota fans who are wondering what kind of Land Cruiser this is, we know for sure that it is not part of the 250-series. The 2024 Land Cruiser is a newer version of the Cruiser (200-series) which left the market scene in 2021 and it is nowhere as big as the Lexus LX600 (pure-300). So, where does it stand?
The 2024 Cruiser is noticeably different when compared to the above options in person – it is quite a smaller vehicle but has clearly been designed to be tough. Compared to the Lexus, the 2024 Land Cruiser is seven inches shorter and compared to the 200-series, it is about 0.8 inches shorter. This Cruiser has a narrow grille and body alongside big fender flares.

Yes, the 2024 Land Cruiser is small compared to other vehicles but when compared to the current 4runner, it is still quite large. This means that it most definitely has a more spacious interior and cab accommodate more than the current 4runner, even though its interior dimensions have not been made known to the public yet.
Hardware
As mentioned above, the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser is a special one because it mirrors the original and this is shown through the hardware. Every new Land Cruiser comes with Downhill Assist Control, a Crawl Control System and rear differentials (push-button-lock). The original full-time four-wheel drive which came on the previous model is also present alongside a transfer case (two-speed) and a Torsen Centre Differential.
The Torsen Centre Differential allows the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser to engage in constant all-wheel drive when on dry pavement. When the driver shifts the transfer case into low range, the centre differential automatically locks. Apart from the four-wheel drive, the basic suspension was also retained. This includes the solid rear axle and the independent front suspension (dual control).
To control cost, the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser did not retain the KDSS system which automatically disconnects the rear and front anti-roll bars.
Powertrain and MPG
The 2024 Land Cruiser will come with a four-cylinder turbocharged 2.4-liter hybrid powertrain which will be paired with an eight-speed transmission that has been said to power the TRD Pro. This engine produces a combined 326 horsepower which is a little bit low compared to the former 381 horsepower which was produced by the V8 5.7-liter engine. But, the engine’s 465 lb-ft of torque is higher than the old model’s 401 lb-ft of torque. Lastly, the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser has a low but respectable towing rate of 6000 pounds compared to the former 8100 pounds.

The MPG of the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser has not yet been released but is expected to be later this year. The MPG of the prior model was extremely low – 13 miles per gallon for the city, 17 miles per gallon for the highway and a combined mpg of 14. We do hope that the new MPG will be higher than these numbers.
The Different Models
As stated above, there are three models of the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser namely the 1958 which is the base model, the Land Cruiser and First Edition models. The base model is the perfect option for those who do not go on off-roading adventures a lot but still choose to go out once in a while. It comes with fixed anti-roll bars and 32-inch tires (245/70R-18).
It also comes with a heated steering wheel, heated and adjustable cloth seats, an 8-inch touchscreen and round LED headlights (heritage-style). For the First Edition models and the Land Cruiser, you get a 33-inch tire (265/70R-18), a multi-terrain select system which allows you to optimize the traction control for different conditions and a front anti-roll bar which can be disconnected.

Both models come with a 10-speaker audio system and a 12.3-inch touchscreen. The First Edition comes with rectangular LED headlights, a roof rack, rock rails, a front skidplate, etc. The Land Cruiser, on the other hand, simply comes with rectangular LED headlights.
Conclusion
So far, the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser seems like a great option in terms of its narrow body and five-seater design which are great additions. Although, we cannot exactly conclude on the engine until it is tested. Regarding this vehicle’s affordability, much information has not been disclosed yet, but it has a starting price of about $50,000 which is quite low compared to that of the 2021 Land Cruiser which had a starting price of $87,030. Will you be choosing this vehicle over the 2024 Ford Bronco?
